• The most challenging part of the trip. You’ll climb to the legendary Abra Warmiwañusca (4,215 m), the highest point on the Inca Trail.
• From there, the views of the valley are breathtaking. The descent then takes you to the Pacaymayu camp for lunch, and you’ll continue on to Chaquicocha, where the Andean silence accompanies your dinner and rest.

• Hike: 8–9 hours | Difficulty: High.

• Time of day: Listen to the wind in the mountain pass and understand why the Incas called it “the gateway to heaven.”

• The path levels out. Amid orchids and cloud forests, you’ll visit the Sayacmarca archaeological site, perched on a cliff.
• In the afternoon, you’ll arrive at the Wiñayhuayna camp (3,650 m), where you can explore its Inca terraces and say goodbye to the porters.
• Maximum elevation: 3,650 m.
• Hike: 4–5 hours | Difficulty: Moderate.
