Itinerary

  • 7:30–8:00 a.m. | Pickup from your hotel in Arequipa and departure for the Colca Canyon.
  • Today's itinerary.

📍 Salinas and Aguada Blanca National Reserve – Observe vicuñas in their natural habitat.
📍 Patahuasi – Stop to taste coca tea.
📍 Toccra Wetlands – Spot alpacas and llamas.
📍 Patapampa – Highest point (4,800 m a.s.l.) with views of volcanoes.

  • Arrival in Chivay at noon, lunch (not included), and check-in at the hotel.
  • In the afternoon, you have the option to visit the La Calera Hot Springs (admission not included) to relax.
  • In the evening, there is an option to have dinner with a folk show (not included).
  • I spent the night in Chivay.
  • After an early breakfast, we will head to the Cruz del Cóndor Lookout, where you can watch the majestic flight of the Andean condor over the Colca Canyon.
  • On the way back, we will visit natural overlooks in the valley to admire the pre-Inca agricultural terraces and make a stop at Maca, known for its colonial church and the traditional Colca Sour.
  • At noon, it's time for lunch in Chivay (not included).
  • In the afternoon, return to Arequipa, bringing to a close an experience rich in Andean landscapes and culture.

  • Warm clothing: The route passes through high-altitude areas where temperatures can drop to 0 °C in the early morning. Be sure to bring a thermal jacket, gloves, a scarf, and a hat.
  • Comfortable shoes or hiking boots: ideal for walking along the trails and viewing platforms in the Canyon.
  • Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat: the sun’s rays in the Andes are intense even on cloudy days.
  • Water bottle and snacks: to keep you hydrated during hikes and long trips.
  • Swimsuit and towel: if you want to enjoy the hot springs at La Calera.
  • Cash (soles): Some towns do not accept credit cards, so it’s useful for admission fees, meals, or souvenirs.
  • A camera or cell phone with a good battery: the flight of the condor and the valley’s landscapes are like living postcards.
  • Avoid heavy meals or alcoholic beverages the night before, as the altitude can affect digestion.
  • Acclimatization: If you're coming directly from Lima or sea level, spend a day in Arequipa before the tour to help your body adjust.
