Itinerary

  • We’ll begin this great journey by picking you up from your hotel in Puno at 5:00 a.m. and taking you to the bus station, where you’ll board a tourist bus bound for La Paz (Bolivia).
    During the trip, you’ll enjoy spectacular Andean scenery, including views of snow-capped mountains, small Altiplano villages, and Lake Titicaca.
  • We will arrive in La Paz around 2:30 p.m. Upon arrival, we will take you to a hostel (day use) where you can rest, shower, and get ready for the next leg of the trip.
  • In the evening, at 8:00 p.m., we will take you to the terminal to board the La Paz–Uyuni tourist bus , a comfortable overnight trip in reclining seats.

📌 Important note:
If you prefer, this tour can start directly from Cusco. The day before, we will pick you up at 9:00 PM at your hotel, and you will take the Cusco–Puno bus. Upon arrival in Puno, you will transfer to the bus that will take you to La Paz.

  • Upon your arrival in Uyuni (5:30 a.m.), our team will meet you and take you to a local café where you can have breakfast and get ready for the adventure.

📍 Colchani, a small artisanal village where you can learn about the salt refining process and purchase local souvenirs

📍 Sunset over the salt flat, accompanied by snacks and a glass of wine, as the sky reflects on the endless ground

  • At the end of the day, we’ll arrive at the salt lodge (around 8:00 p.m.), where you can relax in a unique setting: beds, tables, and walls made entirely of salt.
  • Note: Accommodations in the area are basic but comfortable; double or twin rooms are available depending on availability.
  • After a hearty breakfast, our guide will pick you up between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m. to explore one of the least-known and most authentic routes in the Bolivian highlands.

📍 Laguna Verde, Laguna Celeste, and Laguna Turquíri, three natural gems with intense colors that contrast with the arid landscape

  • The tour ends around 6:00 p.m., after which you'll have free time in Uyuni to have dinner.
  • Following prior coordination, transportation will be provided to the terminal to board the return bus from Uyuni to La Paz.
  • We will arrive in La Paz around 6:00 a.m., and after a short rest, you will board your return transportation to Puno, arriving at approximately 4:00 p.m.
  • Upon your arrival, our staff will be waiting to take you to your hotel, bringing this unforgettable journey through the Andes and the White Desert of Uyuni to a close.

During the tour of the Altiplano, we do not accept credit cards or U.S. dollars; only cash in Bolivian bolivianos (BOB) is accepted. We recommend that you bring small bills for local purchases or expenses.

  • Warm, layered clothing: temperatures can range from 25 °C during the day to below freezing at night.
  • A sun hat and a wool hat: protection for daytime and the cold at night.
  • Sunscreen, lip balm, and UV-protective sunglasses: the sun’s glare on the salt flat is very intense.
  • Gloves, a scarf, and thermal socks: essential for mornings and evenings.
  • Hiking shoes or comfortable boots: perfect for walking on salt and uneven terrain.
  • Reusable water bottle and energy snacks.
  • Camera with an extra battery: the landscapes of the Salar are otherworldly.
  • Passport and immigration documents: Remember that you will be crossing an international border.
  • Toilet paper, hand sanitizer, and personal care items.
  • Personal first-aid kit and basic altitude medications (Sorojchi pills, coca tea, etc.).
  • Swimsuit and small towel: for the Tomave hot springs or accommodations with hot showers.

Helpful Tips

  • Avoid drinking alcohol or eating heavy meals before ascending to high altitudes.
  • Bring Bolivian bolivianos (BOB); credit cards and U.S. dollars are not accepted in rural areas.
  • Respect nature: don't leave trash behind, and don't wander off on your own in the salt flat.
  • Take advantage of sunset and sunrise for your best photos—the colors of the sky are truly unique.
